“We’re always thinking that someday we will be happy. You know, we’ll get that car or job or that person in our lives that will fix everything. But happiness is a mood, and it’s a condition, not a destination. It’s like being tired or hungry. It’s not permanent. It comes and goes, and that’s OK. And I feel like if people thought of it that way, they’d find happiness a lot more often” -Julian Baker, One Tree Hill

Everybody has their own meaning of happiness. For some, it’s shopping, and for others, it’s eating. But the joy we get from these things is surely temporary. True happiness is when your heart and soul feels satisfied.

People run after happiness. They crave for it, not knowing that if we just peace out, relax and make room for it, it will fill in the gaps itself. Spreading smiles is the easiest way. Not only does it win many hearts, but lets your stress out, too. When body acts, emotions follow.

Do good to others. A little random act of kindness can bring a lot of change in the world and inside you. Believe me, you’ll sleep more peacefully – even after a day full of tears – if you wipe someone’s away.

Following your passion, your heart is also essential for the happy you. People may think it as selfish, but it’s always said that true satisfaction lies within. Open your heart and seek what it wants. Follow your dreams. Don’t let others make you follow their orders. If someone tells you, “You can’t” and pulls you down, knock them off. If you’re around a bunch of negative people, you’ll get affected, too. Push them away and run!

Listen to your favorite music, exercise and eat well. Healthy body stimulates inner peace and happiness.

Another guaranteed way to stay joyful is to be thankful. Every time you have to do household chores, someone doesn’t doesn’t even have one. Tell yourself that you’re special. Stop comparing yourself with others. “She’s more beautiful than me” or “she’s got a better job.” You are who you are, no one else. What YOU have, no one else has, so cherish that.

Try to stay in contact with your loved ones. The ones you lost a few years back and the ones you may lose soon. Tell them that you love them. Stop caging your feelings inside; express them. Live out loud or you may burst one day.
