Snipes Says He Would’ve Played Lucious’ Role Much Differently…But if he did, do You Think The Show Would’ve Still Been A Hit?

Snipes Tells Why He Didn’t Accept The Role of “Lucious Lyon” On the Show ‘Empire’

Wesley Snipes, the “would-have-been” Lucious character recently confirmed rumors that he was Lee Daniels’ top pick for the role of Lucious Lyon on ‘Empire’. It wasn’t until Taraji P. Henson gave Daniels her idea of the perfect actor for the role, Terrance Howard, that the creator’s decision was swayed.

Snipes told sources on Thursday that he was considered in the role of Lucius, but due to other things going on in his life, “…the time demands didn’t make it viable.”

When questioned about how he would’ve played the role of Lucious, Snipes said, “I could’ve walked through that no problem. Nino [New Jack City character] could’ve done that.”

Furthermore, Snipes said that had Nino not died, he would’ve been Lucious.
